Mills Products Inks Contract for Maytag Appliance Handles

Tennessee Metal Former Adds Value to Brand’s Latest Ovens and Refrigerators

Metal fabricator Mills Products Incorporated has signed a multi-year agreement with Whirlpool Corporation to fabricate Maytag brand handles for the appliance manufacturer’s most current suite of consumer-grade refrigerators and oven ranges.

The new handles are designed to resemble the handles used on commercial-grade kitchen appliances. Each handle features powder-coated zinc ends and a stainless steel tube, as seen on professional-grade designs. Mills worked closely with Whirlpool to assist in the design process and will manufacture the product in Athens, Tenn., close to the customer’s facility in Cleveland, Tenn.

The handles manufactured by Mills Products are featured on Maytag’s French-door, side-by-side, and bottom-freezer refrigerators, which include metallic handles on all finishes — stainless steel, black, and white. The same is true for Maytag’s latest wall oven ranges and Gemini® double-oven ranges, where the stainless steel handles and American origins are key features noted in the literature used to promote the line to consumers — “you'll know you're lookin' at the heavy-duty strength of Maytag when you see the stainless steel handles . . . on this freestanding oven. Even better, this gas stove . . . is built with American Pride in Cleveland, Tennessee.”

“We’re thrilled to be part of this Maytag success story,” said Darrell Adcock, President of Mills Products. “Both as an American manufacturer and as a metal former capable of delivering fabrication solutions that enabled Maytag’s team to deliver the heavy-duty look it envisioned for its customers in a cost-effective manner.”
